Optical Microscopy (OM)
Another word for the optical microscope is the light microscope, which is the magnifying device we used at school. The microscope uses light and a lens system to magnify the object. The Development & Testing department of Mat-Tech still often uses this microscope to check various metal components and connections and to detect and record errors. The images are digitally recorded and are also immediately visible on a screen.
An alternative from OM is Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
